Austrian Rapture
Austrian Rapture is the result of a picture I took of a carpet in Hawaii about 25 years ago. I carried the image of the beautiful design in my head invisioning a quilt. I began designing and searching for the fabric I would use in the construction of the quilt in 2004. The broidery perse took a very long time to complete as did the quilting and trapunto. The quilt is not a true representation of the original carpet as many design changes needed to be made along the way.

An Old English Flower Garden
An Old English Flower Garden was my first attempt at the Broidery Perse style of applique. I was not able to find what I considered the appropriate fabric at the time. However, I found what I thought might work. I began designing the quilt and quilting design in the 1980s. It took 18 months to complete, working a minimum of 4 hours a day. The quilt has won numerous awards over the years, the most exciting being second place in Paducah, Kentucky, 1986.

Lover's Hearts
Lover's Hearts is a Shadow Trapunto Quilt designed by MARGE MURPHY. I saw this design and knew I had to make it for a soon to be delivered grandchild. The trapunto is done with very bright colored yarn and a fabric which is easy to see through. I used a Springmade fabric, polyester and cotton.

Peach Quilt
This quilt is pieced and highlighted with Broidery Perse applique. The pieced design is called Boston Commons. I constructed this quilt as a model for a class I was teaching at the time.

Pretty Basket
In the late 1970s, I appliqued this Pretty Basket design. Thankfully I used a large enough piece of fabric and years later I was able to use the piece as a center block. I made the log cabin blocks from a box of old scrap fabric a woman had given me.
